The International Law and Policy Society (ILPS) of the National Law University of Odisha in collaboration with the Indian Forum for Public Diplomacy (IFPD) is proud to present an Online Workshop on the theme of ‘The Afghan Debacle’.
About the Workshop
In August 2021, the retreat of the United States from its longest war in history has opened gates
to several changes and challenges in the global geopolitical environment. The fall of Kabul into
the hands of the Taliban or the Islamic Emirate has prompted many questions among the global
communities ranging from International Security, Human Rights, Terrorism, and Militant
Competition, among others. Therefore, International academia and the strategic community
have naturally shifted conversations and research towards what is now dubbed as the ‘New Great
Game’. As pointed by renowned academicians, these developments in Afghanistan are never an
endgame, but a game in progress. The workshop is a humble effort to deconstruct the Afghan
crisis to equip young minds on the nuances of major geopolitical developments in Afghanistan
and their implications for India’s Foreign Policy. This program shall ensure the delivery of a
series of lectures from experts on the ongoing crisis in Afghanistan ranging from issues on
Foreign Policy, Terrorism and Militant Competition, Human Rights, Gender, and International
Law among others.
About IFPD
Indian Forum for Public Diplomacy (IFPD) is a Not-for-Profit, Non-Partisan think-and tank run by students from all over India to aid foreign policy thinking through young academia.
In an era in which Foreign policy has to be rooted in the landscape of people, Diplomacy is no
more a government-to-government engagement. The idea of Public Diplomacy (PD) advocates
a participatory Foreign Policy and reform process. By putting Foreign policy in the landscape of
people, the forum engages to bring forth initiatives to drive foreign policy and reform through
national and international citizens, encourage civilian-led Strategic Studies and, enhance people
to people relations through research, opinion, dialogue, discourse, and debate to catalyze a new
consensus to the world and enhance Indian Public Diplomacy.

Eligibility & Requirements
- Attendees can be from any background or field of study. The event is open for all.
- IFPD nor ILPS shall charge any fee from any of its applicants for this workshop
- Applications are open from 02nd December 2021 to 09th December 2021.
- Candidates need to fill the appropriate Google form to confirm their participation.
- The maximum intake shall be 250 and shall be served on a first come first serve basis.
- Candidates will receive a certificate upon the successful completion of the Workshop.
- Candidates need to fill a Google form after each lecture. These response sheets shall be recorded for attendance as well as a review of each lecture delivered.
- Candidates need to attend at least 80% of the lectures to receive the certificate.

- The event shall be conducted online via zoom platform between the dates 10th-12th December, 2021 & 17th-19th December, 2021.
